Our story

Lactescence Pabos is an initiative by health professionals and mothers who, faced with the low rate of breastfeeding in the region, wanted to promote the practice. Founded in 1991, the group was initially composed of nurses, doctors and dietitians. Between 1999 and 2001, restructuring processes were initiated, and coaches became involved in the board of directors. Since then, the members of the committee, with the help of local resources, have worked to develop the organization’s potential. This allowed Lactescence Pabos to be recognized as a community organization in 2003. In the spring of 2012, the organization’s bylaws were amended to provide a framework for breastfeeding coach support through mandatory core training.
